National Health Reform Discussions
In April 2010 all Australian, state and territory governments (apart from WA) agreed to a suite of reforms that will change the way health care is funded and delivered in Australia into the future. Tasmania signed up to the reforms and subject to the election result these reforms will go ahead. On Tuesday the 3rd of August the AMA will be participating in a discussion forum with the Minister and the Department on the future of these reforms. Click here to see the relevant information uploaded to the DHHS website. If you would like to make a contribution to the debate please e-mail the CEO Tony Steven on ceo@amatas.com.au.
Daily Media Monitoring
The AMA in Tasmania has been monitoring and acting on the media effectively for the past 12 months. We are constantly called on by all outlets for our opinion and position. But on top of all this we are always looking for new ways to ensure we reflect the thoughts of our members. Our monthly Divisional meetings are very important in this process but now we wish to add a further benefit for all members. I invite you to follow this link www.amatas.com.au/mediamonitoring to see the new page on our website that is updated every week day to show all heath stories in Tasmania’s newspapers. ABC Online is also there.
If you, as a member of the AMA, would like to receive a daily e-mail reminder with links back to this site please e-mail us at ama@amatas.com.au and we will add you to our circulation list.
As always if you would like to attend any of our Divisional meetings see our calendar on the website or send an e-mail to me on any issue you are very welcome indeed.
